Yacht clubs and marinas on the Costa Brava, a gateway to the Mediterranean

The Costa Brava has a large number of yacht clubs and sports marinas, with a fantastic variety of different activities to attract visitors to the area. There are seventeen of them altogether scattered along the coastline and, in addition to the normal boat services that you would expect to find, they also provide a wide range of other options. They all excel in terms of first-class facilities and a keen interest in protecting the natural environment. Here are just some of the activities that you can take part in!

Sailing

Sailing is one of the most popular sports at the Costa Brava’s yacht clubs. They almost all have sailing schools and courses run by qualified instructors. So, if you have always wanted to try your hand at sailing, now is the time to feel the wind on your face and surf the waves. Ports and marinas offering sailing include: Club Nàutic Llafranc, Port Empuriabrava, Club Nàutic Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Port de Roses, Club Nàutic Costa Brava Palamós, Club Nàutic Port d’Aro, Club Nàutic l’Escala, Club Nàutic Blanes, Club Nàutic Estartit, Club Nàutic Port de la Selva i Club Nàutic Llançà.

Boat hire and excursions

If you prefer to go out in a motor boat, you can hire one, whether you have skipper qualifications or not, and discover the protected coastline of the Costa Brava in your own time. You can also opt for one of the excursions to the marine reserve of the Medes Islands or to the Cap de Creus Natural Park. Centres offering these activities include the Club Nàutic l’Escala, Club Nàutic Port de la Selva, Club Nàutic Estartit and Port Empuriabrava.

Pesca esportiva

If fishing takes your fancy you will need a fishing license and public liability insurance. The Club Nàutic Sant Feliu de Guíxols holds a Fishing Summer School, catering for both beginners and experienced fishermen that want to improve their skills. Other clubs that offer fishing are the Club Nàutic l’Escala and the Club Nàutic Llançà.
Besides these main activities, you will also find other options including stand up paddleboarding, kitesurf, windsurf, rowing and kayaking. There is something to suit all tastes and needs so you are bound to find an activity that you enjoy!
