Geozone 164 Palaeozoic of the Cap Norfeu

Outcrop of sedimentary rocks formed by marmorized calcareous rock, sandstone and conglomerates at Norfeu, and dark slate with marble intercalations in Montjoi. Volcanic and subvolcanic rocks are also found intercalated. The singular, changing nature of the rocks causes a unique coastal morphology with capes formed of solid rock, such as the Falconera Point, formed by granite, or the capes Trencat, Blanc and, in particular, Norfeu, made of marmorized calcareous stone.

The combination of stratigraphic, petrological, tectonic and morphological aspectsgives the area an exceptional geological interest at all levels.
